Short Films

cycleI’ve directed at least forty short films, but I kinda lost count somewhere in there. I co-wrote and edited many of them, and on two or three, I even worked the camera.

Here are a few favorites.

Tierheim (The Animal Shelter) tierheim1

Inspired by German expressionism films such as Nosferatu and The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, Tierheim was the winner of the Best Film at the Reel Fast 48 Hour Filmmaking Contest and screened at numerous film festivals, including the Whistler Film Festival.

Today dance

“The day had been agreed upon when we would act upon our beliefs, and that day was today. But something got in the way… Love.” A whimsical exploration of love and destruction, inspired by the films of Jean-Luc Godard.

After Shockafter shock 2

Inspired by a true story of what happens from being in the wrong place in the wrong time, After Shock explores the psychological effects of a terrorist attack. After Shock was winner of a Directors Guild of Canada KickStart Award, and features performances from Matt Baram (Seed, Suicide Squad) and Christian Mena (Rent). It screened at several international film festivals, including the Vancouver International Film Festival, and was broadcast on the CBC and Knowledge Network.
